About Buffalo Counseling
Why the Buffalo? Some might even say, “that’s a Bison, not a Buffalo” but here we do and say what we want. Some people may not like a straight forward approach to tackling life’s issues, but that is exactly the reason for the Buffalo mascot. This animal faces storms directly and runs at them. It means the storm won’t last as long, and the Buffalo’s protection is at the front of their body keeping it safe and warm. We believe this is how life should be addressed— Head on, full steam, don’t quit, and with purpose. If you feel unmotivated to change, purposeless, or lost, then you came to the right place.
— as a side note, the owner’s brother-in-law says that he looks like a buffalo with a giant hairy head. Hence the company name.

“It is more difficult to rule yourself than to rule a city”
— Jordan B. Peterson
Our Beliefs
Our founder Dalton Berryhill has a strong Christian background and so follows Buffalo Counseling and Human Services. While we will not inject our belief system into your life we would like you to know where our beliefs lie. We believe that a proper therapeutic relationship is built on honesty and it is that relationship that is the most pivotal part of counseling. A recurring issue for all people we see is a lack of motivation for change, purposelessness, desperation, and the overall anxiety and depression that comes with life’s difficulties; however this is further heightened in the male population having little or no places to discuss their anger, relationships, motivations, etc. With all that being said we believe that we offer the best space in Waco to address those issues.
Dalton Berryhill, MA, LPC
My name is Dalton Berryhill and I am the founder of Buffalo Counseling and Human Services. My Christian beliefs shape the way I approach counseling and relationships. I believe in a very direct approach to counseling and tend to not beat around the bush when it comes to addressing issues. The Wacoan awarded me with Waco’s best individual therapist in 2023, 2024 and Waco’s best marriage therapist in 2023. I love working with people from all walks of life but my particular specialties lie in the following—
Motivation and Purpose in life
Men’s Health, Anger, and Relationships
Spiritual Beliefs and struggles
Workplace issues
My real passion is in public speaking and workshops around motivation and burnout. I have over 500 hours of public speaking and want to use that experience to help businesses and individuals with confident and full of purpose.
