Workshops
Buffalo Goals with EVERY workshop
Educate: We aim to teach our audience citing the following: surveys, literature, lectures, biblical references, and the best available information for that topic.
Increase Awareness: each workshop will come with a number of exercises that are designed to raise awareness of exactly that how that topic plays a role in the lives of the participants. An example is “stress inventory” exercise that is presented with the leadership workshop on depression (see below)
Motivate for Change: At the end of our time, we will discuss a plan for change that is designed specifically for your needs (with regards to the workshop topic). We offer structured plans and ideas that help participants feel like the direction they want to go in is immediately available and easily identified.

Leading the Sad Folks: Training Leaders on Depression
Buffalo was founded by Christians with a Christian belief system, so every workshop begins with a biblical foundation supported by Scripture and then studied through a psychological lens. God gave us a brain, emotions, and a body that holds it all together; our workshops use all of it, including His Word, to tackle difficult topics through education, increasing awareness, and motivating with encouragement.
Why This Workshop Matters
Leaders today are increasingly faced with team members struggling with depression, yet most feel unprepared. Whether the leader or the employee is experiencing depressive symptoms, this workshop equips organizations and churches with practical teaching on depression, increased awareness of stress, and a plan for setting healthy expectations in the workplace.
Educate: Depression and Its Causes
Our surveys show a growing, improper understanding of Depression as a clinical diagnosis—fueled by self‑diagnosis and “social media therapists.” This leads to poor responses from churches, businesses, and leaders. We shine a light on Depression sensibly, including sections like “Are you clinically depressed, or appropriately sad?” so leaders can better understand negative emotions and respond wisely.
Raise Awareness: How Do We Identify?
Awareness is the key to positive change. Through exercises, participants see how stress affects negative emotion and how it can lead to depression. Leaders learn to pinpoint their own stressors, understand depressive symptoms, and become more useful to their congregations, employees, and organizations.
Motivate: A Plan and Encouragement
Every Buffalo workshop ends with motivation and a practical plan. This includes our “Red Flag Plan,” helping leaders identify depression in others and connect them with resources. Just this alone can take leaders from feeling lost to feeling equipped and confident.
